Leadership, Culture & Connection Through Japanese Tea Traditions (Perth, Western Australia)

20251004

On Saturday 4th of October we were invited to present on Japanese tea culture and perform otemae for a corporate PWC/AJBCC event in Perth, Western Australia.

With 40 guests attending on the day, the event was to promote Japanese-Australian relationships, learn about cross-cultural tea practices, with Indigenous Australian guest speaker, Sharon.

The guests enjoyed hearing a brief history of tea in Japan from speaker, Paddy, and watched a performance by our staff members and Sharon joined us as a special guest.

Sharon shared her thoughts about bush culture and her personal experiences with the guests and Paddy.

Many of the guests said they really enjoyed the event, and while watching the performance they felt calm, relaxed and grounded - able to take a moment for themselves. They showed a lot of interest in both tea cultures and asked good questions while looking at our tea item display table, and speaking to our volunteers.
