Soot Bamboo Chashaku Carving Workshop

We were delighted to hold the fourth “Soot Bamboo Chashaku Carving Workshop in Kochi” with Mr. Izumi Moriwaki.
This time, we welcomed 11 participants, about half of whom were returning from previous sessions.
Once again, Mr. Moriwaki made the long drive from Sanda City in Hyogo Prefecture, bringing with him a carload of precious soot bamboo and specialized tools.
His wife kindly joined him in the passenger seat.
Under the warm guidance of Mr. and Mrs. Moriwaki, we spent the entire day fully immersed in carving chashaku (bamboo tea scoops) and crafting companion bamboo tubes, all in a cheerful and focused atmosphere.
Each participant gave their chashaku a meaningful name, and some even created flower containers and lid rests.
