We invited exchange students from Taiwan, their host families, and members of the Kochi Lions Club to a traditional tea gathering.

The tea was prepared in ryurei style, with guests seated at tables to enjoy usucha (thin matcha) and Japanese sweets.

As it was pretty much the first time experiencing tea ceremony for most of the Taiwanese high school boys as well as the Japanese participants, we explained some simple manners for enjoying matcha and sweets.

They were also invited to step into the small tearoom.

Everyone seemed very interested in traditional Japanese culture and enjoyed the experience.
