Chanoyu Practice at Kanto Daiichi High School (Edogawa City, Tokyo)

There are 31 students who will study in Perth for a short term.
After a talk on the tea ceremony, the students were divided into two groups and assigned to two roles: one as a host and the other as a guest.
The students who played the role of hospitality first handed out wasanbon (Japanese sweet), and then handed out tea bowls filled with matcha and hot water on a small silk cloth called Fukusa.
We asked the students who played the role of guests to whisk with a tea whisk and drink by themselves.
The students who were cautious at the beginning said “This is the first time to drink Matcha!” “It's so bitter...” “My feet are numb...” and many other comments with smiles.
Due to time constraints, we had to rush through the meeting, but they were so fresh, and we were truly looking forward to the day of the event.
We were filled with gratitude to the teachers and students.
