Chanoyu Experience in Kochi (Kochi)
We invited a couple from Connecticut, USA.
We purified our hands, mouth, and mind in Tsukubai and then entered through Nijiriguchi entrance.
We explained that Chanoyu has its root in Zen Buddhism. The idea of treating everybody equally in the tea room also came from Zen Boddhism.
The hanging scroll says that even if they are far apart, best friends still share the same heart.
It is about 3,000ri from Kochi to Connecticut. That seems to be the relationship between the couple and Mr. Tabuchi.
After eating Japanese sweets called Miyama, we enjoyed matcha tea.
The couple enjoyed their experience and provided some positive feedback:
・The small, sacred tea room allows people to feel closer to each other.
・With the soothing sound of water and autumn-colored sweets, matcha aroma, etc, the five senses are sharpened.
・The tranquility calmed our mind, and we felt like staying there for a while.
