Tea Ceremony Experience (Ohta, Tokyo)
We welcomed a couple from Australia who were visiting Japan.
The husband has been practicing Kyudo (Japanese archery) for about 15 years, as well as Jodo and Iaido (Japanese old martial arts ), and the wife has taken up Kyudo, tea ceremony, Japanese flower arrangement, Japanese dance, Sanshin (Okinawan instrument), bonodori and Taisho harp.
This time, they came to Japan to take a dan test for Kyudo.
Since it was raining, they experienced the Rojikasa (bamboo hat).
They entered the tea room in a formal way, watched adding charcoal and the wife made tea for us.
For the hanging scroll, we chose Daruma based on the husband’s image.
The seasonal sweets made with chestnuts were handmade by one of the participants.
It seems that the guests were able to spend a moment away from the hustle and bustle before heading for the rigorous training of Kyudo and the dan examination.
