Tea Ceremony Experience (Ohta, Tokyo)
We welcomed two lovely people living in Perth, Australia to a tea room.
First of all, they were dressed in yukata (light cotton kimono).
Thanks to the horikotatsu-style tatami mats, they did not sit on their knees, but watched the tea ceremony closely after eating sweets.
What does the hanging scroll look like? Imagination was sparked with various ideas, such as something growing toward the clouds, something expanding vigorously in majestic nature, lightning, or a star cane. There were also poetic expressions, and it was interesting to see everyone's individuality.
It was impressive to see their reactions to the unique Japanese objects such as the Ajiro ceiling, sunken hearth, bell, gong, and so on, and to hear their admiration for each one of them.
This was their first visit to Japan. They said that the tea ceremony experience was a relaxing break from their busy schedule while they enjoyed sightseeing in Ginza, Takeshita-dori, TeamLab, Hakone, Kyoto, and other places.
“We love Japan!”
We were glad to hear that.
