Tea Ceremony Experience Class (Kolbe Catholic College in Perth, Western Australia)

20240905

We demonstrated tea ceremony to 28 third-year junior high school students and 14 first-year high school students at Kolbe Catholic College in Rockingham, south of Perth.

This is the third year in a row that we have been invited to do this since the year before last. As in previous years, the tea ceremony seat was set up with a glass window behind it, and the students sat on desks and chairs placed in a semicircle in front of it.

The program consisted of a short explanation of the tea ceremony, a tea ceremony demonstration, a tea making experience, and a question corner, but the two classes this time were very quiet and there were no questions, so the students were asked about things that the host always keeps in mind. After returning to class, the students said they enjoyed the tea.

I would be happy if we could show a part of Japanese culture through tea and convey at least a little of the Japanese spirit.
