Participation in the Perth Japan Festival
(Perth, Western Australia)
A group of us from the NPO Kissako Cha Know You had the privilege of joining the Perth Japan Festival in Western Australia. Initiated in 2013, this annual cultural event has successfully introduced and celebrated Japanese traditions. This year, over 16,000 enthusiastic visitors took part in the festivities, and we served iced matcha to approximately 230 guests. In Australia, there is a significant interest in Japanese culture, and tea ceremonies or matcha are widely recognized and appreciated. Our mission is to convey the spirit of Japan through tea ceremonies, and our participation in the Perth Japan Festival was an extraordinary occasion to fulfill this aim. We used bamboo tea bowls, mirroring those used at the "Outdoor Tea Ceremony & Cherry Blossoms Viewing" event held concurrently in Kochi, Japan.
