Tea Ceremony Experience Class (St. Norbert College in Perth, Western Australia)

At St. Norbert College in Perth, Western Australia, students had the opportunity to experience the tea ceremony during the Harmony Day event held on March 25, 2026.
Harmony Day is an Australian celebration held annually on March 21. It promotes cultural diversity, inclusion, and respect, recognising that people from many different backgrounds live together peacefully in Australia.
As part of this celebration, students were invited to participate in a Japanese Tea Experience. This activity provided an opportunity for students to learn how to prepare Japanese tea and how to drink it in a traditional manner.
Although we had planned to accommodate up to 30 students, a total of 35 students arrived wishing to take part in the tea-making and tasting session. Due to space limitations and other conditions, some students were not be able to join us.
Students showed strong interest in the process, asking questions about how the tea is made. Many were surprised by the taste, as it was different from what they had expected.
In addition to the tea experience, students also had the opportunity to participate in other Harmony Day activities, including Dance, Japanese Drumming, and Yoga.
