NPO Kissako Cha Know You
Tea Serving at Kumejima Tsumugi Annual Fair
(Yuimar-kan, Kumejima, Okinawa)

Among the producers involved in Japanese textiles, Kumejima Tsumugi from Okinawa stands out as the sole traditional craft that encompasses the entire process, from raising silkworms and extracting silk to dyeing and weaving. At the Kumejima Tsumugi No Sato Yuimar Kan, the annual Kumejima Tsumugi Fair took place under the leadership of Chairman Toru Matsumoto. Following the success of previous year's Kumejima Tsumugi Exhibition in Nihonbashi, we were privileged of collaborating with Kumejima Tsumugi Ambassador Shuji Yamamoto to offer a tea ceremony experience.
On this special day, attendees had the opportunity to participate in dressing in traditional attire, attend lectures, and witness the Kumejima Tsumugi Ambassador certification ceremony. In a relaxed and jovial atmosphere, a member of NPO Kissako Cha Know You, dressed in hakama and Kumejima Tsumugi kimono, graciously prepared and served matcha tea, accompanied by local delicacies. Participants savored these moments, embracing the unhurried and serene ambience as they engaged in pleasant conversations.
