Participation in the Perth Japan Festival (Perth, Western Australia)

The Perth Japan Festival, held on March 23rd, celebrated its 10th anniversary this year with an event that ran from 11 AM to 8 PM.
The "Tea Ceremony" segment was graced by the presence of the Mayor of Perth, the Consul General of Japan, and over 260 guests, with support from a dedicated team of 38 volunteers. Amidst lively music, including Bon Odori (Bon dance), we shared the history and essence of the tea ceremony, highlighting the principles of "Wakeiseijaku 和敬清寂" (harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility) and "Ichigoichie 一期一会" (each encounter happens only once in a lifetime). The ceremony included a demonstration of making ice matcha. Guests were invited to taste the sweetness of wasanbon (a Japanese sweet made from three different types of sugar) and to try making tea themselves using tea whisks.
